a conundrum (sp?)
« on: February 10, 2007, 02:23:03 PM »
Ok i already have a 204 handi 22 in hb.  I got a receiver from darat and later purchased the factory barrel for it, a 500 s&w.  Here is the dilema.  The 204 locks up great on its original receiver, and the new one.  The 500 locks up great on the 204 receiver, and is a little loose on its factory receiver.  Now here is the question.  If i were to put the 500 on the 204 receiver would it shoot loose on it like it has its receiver??  Also do you suppose if i shipped the receiver and barrel to nef they would fix this problem, since it is what i would consider a flaw in production process???  All answers are appreciated.

Also nothing against darat, he was great to deal with and everything was exactly as stated it would be.

Thanks guys

josh

If the .500 barrel was factory fitted to the frame, yes, they'll put a new barrel on it. ;)

I also forgot to add that this barrel has a muzzle break, will that make a difference??

I doubt they'll replace it, but it wouldn't hurt to ask, give em a call Monday and see what they say. The alternative would be to shim it, see the barrel fitting instructions in the FAQs if they say no.

if nothing else i could probably have a smith take it off and put it on the new one couldnt i?  surely they wouldnt say this is reason enough to not warranty the barrel would they?

I don't know, you'd have to ask em.

got ahold of them today and they will replace the barrel, but will not switch the break to the new one.  Either have to do it myself or have a smith do it.

I don't have enough Handi's yet to have needed their "Customer Service" ... but it is great to know that they are taking care of customer issues like this one.

this is only my second, but i am not going to complain about having to use customer service.  they were very nice, however depending on what time of day you call it can take a while to get through.
