Eric Brooks & my money- Where are you?
« on: February 08, 2007, 04:50:25 PM »
If anyone knows how to contact Eric Brooks, maker of CZ accessories, from this site http://www.ebrooks77.50megs.com/ please let me know. It's going on 2 weeks now, since I sent payment for a set of tall weaver adaptor's, and I have heard and received NOTHING back from this guy. Being as he is exactly one state over from me, this is quite unacceptable. I have sent several e-mails, and I have even called and left a message using the phone number listed on his Paypal account....No replies!
I'm quite aggrevated, as I really needed these parts to mount my scope and sight the rifle in, before my hunt next week. His poor business practices, have put me in quite a bind on a hunt that I have invested a lot of time and money in. Thanks for you're help!

Try here. Here are some other people with the same problem. Here is one of his personal posts at RFC concerning customer service.

First let me apologize for the shortfalls in customer service over the last year.

I am here still and have been avoiding even reading things here. I have had some problems over the last year that have had an impact on what I hope was once excellent customer service. Sometimes it has been difficult just getting the courage to wade through the frustrated (and justly so) e-mails from customers. I have been working through my issues with my doctors but have not gotten much improvement to date.

I was more or less on top of things through August when a family health problem with MRSA occured and kept me away from things for about 2 weeks. MRSA is Methicillin Resistant Staph Aurelius and is something we will all be more familiar with as it is becoming more and more common. Here is a link: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/mrsa/DS00735

I am still dealing with the personal and financial impact of this. I am ok it was my family who bore the impact of the infections. They are either recovered or recovering and are in no immediate danger. It is shocking to see how quickly a healthy person can get sick, how sick you can get, how long it can take to diagnose, and how long it takes to recover. It is often fatal and roughly 1% of the population is carrying this superbug.

I will continue to ship and hopefully more quickly than has been the case recently. I have had difficulty keeping most of the BKL line in stock. They have been inundated with demand and are generally a few weeks behind. My back orders were filled today so some of the orders will ship in the next week.

Again my apologies for the problems over the last year

Okay... now that it's the Friday before my hunt, and tomorrow is the last of my available time to sight the rifle in before the hunt on the 16th, I'm officially screwed.  Thanks for the post that explains a little of Eric's issues. I'm sorry for the guy and all, but I have my own problems to worry about. Frankly, he should have shut his website down or noted that there will be an extended delay in shipping of his products. At least I would have went with a different alternative to my scope mounting problem.

It seems a bit strange to me you'd be waiting two weeks before a big hunt to be ordering parts needed for a rifle to use on the hunt. Surely you have others, at least I hope you do. Now you're posting it here even tho this Brooks guy is NOT associated in any way with GBO and more strange since the manufacturer of the mount you wanted IS an advertiser here. Why didn't you just go to the source and get it shipped. Had you posted this sooner I could have mentioned his and you might have had time to contact BKL and have them ship it directly to you via over night shipping.

As I said, hope you have other guns. In the future I'd give more leeway than two weeks in ordering something that the entire hunt hinged on.

I was thinking the same as reading the post.  .

Well Gray...sometimes things happen. In a perfect world, I'd have choosen a different scope or Warne would still be making the extra high rings for my rifle. I never really figured i'd have a problem like this. I ASSUMED I would just be able to track down the rings I needed, and all would be well. As time drew nearer, I realized I had very few alternatives. Granted, I THINK I can make the rifle work...but just having it "work" and having it shoot consistantly and accurately, aren't the same thing. I had happened across Eric's website, from a link I mistakenly thought was HERE....that's why I posted it here, figuring maybe I'd get a reply or someone would know something. He was only in NY state, and I sent him an e-mail with my purchase, explaining my situation. I figured he could get me the adapter's within 2 weeks, and all would be well....I took a shot, ya know?

So being as I don't have all day to sit at home and try to find the things I need, I assumed it would be an easy fix and that surely someone made what I needed...I was wrong, so shoot me. I was not aware that BKL made the parts, or i'd have gone that route....Live and learn.
And no, I do NOT have another Yote rifle.... How many coyote rifles should one own?  I have been reduced to shimming the rings so the objective will clear the barrel.  ::)  I guess I'll know if it shoots tomorrow, when I hit the range.

Thanks Reyn, for the helpful info on both ends. I hit the range yesterday. After 6 rounds and no hits anywhere that I could see, I took the scope off and removed the shim's from under the CZ bases. I then removed the bolt, and at 50 yards, lined the bore up with the target from my Led Sled. After leaving the bore lined up, I peeked through the scope only to see that the crosshairs were WAY off. I fired 1 round like that, and I found paper. I then knew I had to walk the POI about 8" left and 8" up.  Once I got it an inch high at 50 yards, I moved out to 100 yards.

Even with the crosswind gusting at 25+ MPH, I was able to shoot a 5 shot group that was around 1 inch, using my favorite factory 204 offering: Hornady's 45 gr SP. I had to leave the shim's in the rings though, as even now I can barely get a dollar bill between the objective and the barrel. I will worry about finding a remedy for that issue another time. I had to buy those junk bikini scope cover's, as I can't get my flip up caps on the objective, and thus I cannot use my kill flash diffuser either. It would be nice to have some functional scope protection in the field, which is why I wanted to get the scope up a bit higher, to begin with. I'll go BKL after the season is done...thanks again!
