Newby needs help
« on: February 06, 2007, 12:30:48 PM »
I just ordered a Left hand T3 Lite SS in 30.06. Does this come with the Optilock Rings or should I replace them. Also does anyone have info if they changed the trigger pull to 4-7 or is it still 2-4.
I'm also thinking now that I should have went with 300wsm.

I also have ordered a new Tikka in 300 win mag and have heard that there might be a change in the trigger, I contacted Berreta Arms two days ago about this and I will keep you posted when I get their reply.

I purchased a T3 Lite in November and it has the 2-4 lb. adjustable trigger.  I bought mine off the shelf though so that could be a difference.  I read over the information on Tikka's website and all it mentioned was that the T3 trigger was adjustable from 2-4 lbs.  I hope this is just a nasty rumor about the trigger as I feel it is a definite plus for the Tikka.

On to your question about the rings.  Mine did not come with the OptiLock rings.  It came with some aluminum Tikka rings.  Not bad but I did not like how they clamped around your scope and the scews seemed very soft.  Reminded me of the Weaver rings that hook on one side and screw down on the other. After considering Warne, Talley, and Leupold, I installed a set of Warne rings which are solid steel.  Probably overkill for my application but I want my scope mounted solid.  The Talley mounts look great too but I just wanted to use steel.

I think you will be happy with the 30-06 and the Tikka.

My gun should be here in two days. I will let everyone know about  the  trigger when I have first hand knowledge. Thanks for the replies.

I just got a reply from Berreta today and they said that they have not heard of any spec. change on the T3 trigger. I also told them they should go on this forum and see what the Tikka owners concerns are.

I enclose a scan of the Tikka advert on the back of Petersen's Hunting mag, Feb/March 2007. Beretta have continually lied to me or kept me in the dark every time I needed customer service. Why would they pay thousands of dollars for this advert if it was false???  Much as I like the Tikka/Sako line, Beretta suck!!!
