back to the handis

Well i'm almost all settled in my new home in Ft. Hood. I miss duluth and everything too much. at least i can go shooting still... well as soon as i get a rifle. I don't have any handis anymore, starting over if you will, and now i'm after another Ultra Hunter. this time i'll leave it alone aside from nessesary tweaking. probably in .243 or 25-06. what is the .25-06 like? only 06 i've shot is the 30-06. my arsenal really downsized and only the No.4 Enfield is an orginal member, along with the .300Wby MAg Weatherby Vanguard with a 20" cut barrel(one big muzzle flash and recoil surprised i can handle it) i wanted something "big" and it fit for $140 and a $79 Yugo mauser i traded. also is a Saiga .223. those are the only three...wait four CVA .50cal

Everyone needs a 25-06.  Mine is by far the most accurate handi I have and it doesn't seem to matter what I feed it. It shoots everything well.

well the .308 Ultra went to my Army recruiter and i couldn't find enough of a use for the .17HMR Sportster that a .22 couldn't do just as well for less.

Good to see ya back 8)
I believe a 25-06 is an excellent choice and I believe the  243 Ultra, with the 24" bull barrel is as well.

I think you will have better sucess with these, as it seems many here have problems with some of their 308's. You weren't the only one, so don't feel bad man.

Yep, what he said. I had two 308 Ultras that I finally decided were going to be too much time/labor/trouble invested to get right. Moved them and moved on.

My 25-06 Ultra has been my first choise for mulies and antelope for years.

I've got a .257 ackely improved (not a handi) that is sometimes balilstically compared to the 25-06. I like it lots. much less recoil than a 30-06, but still a lot of gun. esp for tx.
