Sanddigger - these are very popular pistols both here and in the former soviet block countries. The 30 Mauser is an incredibly powerful cartridge known for its ability to penetrate. It is often described as the first 'magnum' cartridge because of its velocity which is about 1400'/sec from the short Tokarev barrel. The 30 Mauser and the 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge are interchangeable. Tokarevs are available from a number of dealers or distributors - they can be had in the original 7.62x25mm chambering and the 9x19 chambering.
Ammunition is readily available. Ron Reed, one of Graybeard's sponsors, manufactures this ammunition and provides a larger availablity of loads than any orther ammo maker. Sellier and Bellot make the 7.62x25mm cartridge and it is quality european made ammo. Magtech also makes or imports this cartridge and they are avialble readliy as well.
Do not use mil-surp Chechoslovakian or Yugoslavian or Chines ammunition in your Tokarev. These countries made this ammunition for their submachine guns and it is too hot to use in the pistols. There amy be exceptions but you don't want to chance it.
The best quality pistols out there are the Polish made pistols. Those pistols in particular carry the safety (aftermarket BATF requirement) on the pistol grip near the magazine release button and it is the most functional and reliable of all the aftermarket safeties required on these pistols.
So, I guess ya could say we've heard of these pistols.........................HTH. Mikey.
