Bushnell scope question
« on: February 03, 2007, 08:55:28 AM »
I'm about to order a 15" 6mm TCU barrel for my G2 Contender and my thoughts are now turning to how best to glass it. I have had a number of Contender barrels over the years and I've almost always put fixed 2X scopes on them, with the occasional fixed 4X . However I am now thinking about a Bushnell 2-6X to add a little more versatility.

I have a Trophy 2X on my 14" 44 Mag barrel that I really like. It comes up with a good quick sight picture and minimum blackout. I'm hoping the Bushnell variables are just as user friendly. What I'd really like to know is, how does the Trophy compare with the Elite 3200? I have an Elite 3200 3-10x40 on my CZ 527 which is superb. Should I spring for the Elite 3200 2-6X, or is the Trophy 2-6X plenty good enough?

I would just get the Bushnell trophy. I have been using one for several years with great success.

I can highly recommend the bushnell trophy  2X6 scope.  I just ordered another one, since I love the first one I bought a couple of years ago.  Great eye relief and you don't have to "hunt" for a full picture.  good in low light and the power adjustment is smooth.  Very versitle scope.  Sorry I do not have any experience with the Elite series, but I am sure they are superb.  I would like to try a firefly sometime in the future.

Thanks guys. I think it would be hard to go wrong with the Trophy 2-6X. It sure has a loyal following.

Another vote for the Trophy.  I have one on my 7 - 30 Waters and one on my 308 Win.  Great scopes for the money.

Yet another Trophy vote.
Have a 2-6x on a 300 Whisper and it is just the cat's meow.
The adjustments are right on and repeatable. You can do the "box test" and always return to the sme POI where you started.
Granted, the Whisper is not a kicker but it has kept it's alignment flawlessly.
Plenty of eye relief if you do have a knuclebuster caliber so you won't likely put the edge of the scope into your forehead as I have frequently seen happen with other scopes on anything north of a 44 mag.
The price is nice too.

I put a Trophy 2-6 on my 460 mag barrel, 15 inch, unported,( almost brutal recoil), was told it probably would not hold up.  After I finally got it to stop sliding in the rings, its doing fine.  I'm impressed , at least so far.  Its probably got 4 to 500 rounds through it. Good Luck !
