300 Win Mag Vs. 300 H&H Mag Muzzle vel

Could someone please tell me the muzzle velocity of these two rounds using a 180gr bullet? Thanks!

Standard muzzle velocity for the 300 Win. Mag. with a 180 grain bullet is 2960 fps.  For the 300 H&H is about 2880 fps.  As such, the muzzle velocity is relatively close between the two.

Keep in mind, however, that handloaders can increase (within safe pressures) the velocity of each round.  Specifically, if you go to cpcartridge.com, you will see that, for the 300 H&H, they have the muzzle velocity set at 3000 fps, which is actually MORE than that of the 300 Win. Mag.

FYI - 300 Win Mag with 180 gr. Partitions out of my Remington 700 Sendero (26" brl) clocks about 3125 fps at 0.5 gr. below max with RL-22. Just shot new Nosler 200 gr. Accubonds and they were at 2975 at max load of 72.5 gr. RL-22. No pressure signs on both loads. Primer edges nice and round and no bolt pressure. Cases and primer pockets fine. The Accubonds shot OK at around 1" at 72.0 gr. RL-22. Playing with RL-25 and will report back if any improvement. Always work up loads since rifles are different even in same model. Partitions shoot exceptional (<1") out of this rifle which is first rifle I have ever owned that shot Partitions at all. The Accubonds have a BC of 0.588 which gives it down range edge over the Partitions with increased energy at 300 yards of about 250 ftlbs. Nice to have extra for elk. Recoil is somewhat more than the Partitions. I have friend who had the 300 H&H and he is slightly behind the 300 Win Mag but not by much. His biggest complaint is brass doesn't seem to be as consistent. I can't speak to that though. Not much difference to even debate as far as I'm concerned. I give edge to 300 Win Mag only because I know it better and components and ammo are easiler to get.
