Is this good pricing for a BC?
« on: January 30, 2007, 06:23:45 PM »
I thought for sure I'd be able to find the answer to this question with the search function, but I did not.  A local shop here has 5 Buffalo Classics.  Well, 4 plus one of the fancy Golden ones.  3 are used and they start at $260 and range up to a little over $300 ($320 perhaps?) for the new regulars and ~$400 for the Golden whatever-it's-called.  Is that about right/in-line with what you guys see?

They aren't always easy to find, but they sell for $300 to $350 new, a couple have sold for $250-$275 here in the classifieds, Sportsmans Warehouse sells em for $300, although they haven't had one recently, they might have gone up since I last saw one there a couple months ago.  There's always Walmart.....maybe!! ::)

I guess I've just always been to the wrong places.  I'm new to this town where I live now, but this is the first time I've ever seen a BC in real life.  No shops anywhere I've ever lived or even visited have ever had one.  When I tried to get one a few years ago, all the shops where I lived looked at me like I was the village idiot for even asking about this rifle; they had never heard of them and couldn't find them in their ordering catalogs or anything.  I ended up getting the BC barrel and sights as an accessory.  Anyway, I'm glad to know I live in a place where things are stocked and that this shop's pricing is about right.  They are a purely local shop but have a very large and varied inventory (as big or maybe bigger than the Sportsman's Warehouse in town), and I particularly enjoy the Class III counter.  That 1928 Thompson calls my name every time I'm in there, but having a house to live in is still a slightly higher priority.   ;)

Since Mississippi changed their primitive firearms season a year ago to include the NEF/H&R rifles .38 cal and bigger as legal, the .45-70 has been in short supply nationwide, seems that way any way. :-\ The 45-70 Handi and BC are great rifles, I have 2 of each, one of the BCs is rechambered to .45-120, lots of fun to shoot, the .45-70 is probably the second most popular H&R caliber next to the .223, everyone needs at least one!!! ;D
