muzzle brake on T3 Lite
« on: January 30, 2007, 01:42:07 PM »
I'm considering buying a stainless synthetic T3 300Win Mag, can anybody tell me anything about a muzzle brake on the gun. Good - Bad - Factory - Aftermarket. Any help would be great, I found this site 4 days ago and I can't stay off it.

Thanks in advance,
Canuk

First off, WELCOME TO GRAYBEARD OUTDOORS!

I had muzzle brakes installed on my rifles when I was younger.  Key word being YOUNGER!  They are very loud.  The most effective muzzle brake is the one from Answer Products.  Makes a .300 Win Mag feel like a .243.  But it is also the loudest.

The quietest brake is the Vais Brake, but it is not as effective as the Answer brake (although still very effective, but still loud!)

None of my newer riflles have brakes.  I don't want them, and I no longer recommend them.

I too have a T3 in .300 Win Mag and contemplated on a muzzlebrake.I just changed out the factory buttstock pad to one of the new ones from Limbsaver.Made a world of difference.I can shoot 180gr and 200gr Partitions all day comfortably now.

I have a T3 300 WSM and I put an Answer Products comp on it.  I'm not sure when the other fella had his put on but mine is not loud at all.  In fact I had my dad shoot his 30-06 w/o a comp and then my t3 with the comp and they sounded identical.  :o  I've shot mine several times hunting and have never noticed it or had anyone around cringe or even comment that it was loud.  It is an awesome brake and I would recommend it.  I think you should get a limbsaver pad instead of Answers pad-it's not that durable.

Thanks,

Bob

Limbsavers are great!! I put one on my T3 light in 308 and it's very comfortable a good fit, no mods required. I also have them on my 870 slug gun and my wife's 243. They are a great product.
No rifles with muzzle breaks though, us small bore guys don't need them, we just need a big car  :D

 Hey Welcome
I'd go with a Limbsaver first,if it's still to much for you then put on the comp. The only time they do much s on the bench, once it's sighted in and your hunting you'll never know the differance. I have some with and some without,my 300 WM doesn't have one and it's not as bad as you would think. Good Luck

I agree I have shot deer with a 338, 416 rigby, and a 458 lott. ( I was 18 and wanted a mess not meat.  I also hadn't had two shoulder surgeries)  on the bench they where darn near impossible to handle.  In the woods with a slight bit of adrenaline never felt it.  Heck most times I don't hear the shot.  Also many guides will not take you out unless you have a break that con be shut off.  Try the limbsaver.
