Mr.Joe, The trigger you have is fine, it just needs a little cleaning up. I first thought about replacing mine until I tried working one myself. It's easy to do, you just need to take your time. After doing the first one I did my other 5 in about 1.5 hours. I believe there are good instructions on the ruger forum. Good luck,DM

Im not much for grinding and polishing on my own triggers, so i think ill be best suited by a nice adjustable aftermarket job i know will turn out good.  Thanks anyways though.

I bought a Timney trigger for my .243 Ruger M77 Mark II several years ago and it is pretty sweet. I bought it from Midway USA at the link below.

The best trigger out there is a jewell, and I have one on a Remington M700 BDL SS in 7mm-08.  I don't know if it is available for a Ruger, but if it is, you will love it and never look back.  Keep in mind, however, that the Jewell trigger is very expensive.  The Timney is the best aftermarket trigger for the price.

What Zachary and BigJeepMan said. I don't believe that Jewell makes a trigger for the Ruger 77 Mk II.  I've installed Timneys in three of mine and have been very pleased with them.
I believe that there some other ones out there, but I have only used Timneys - so can't comment.

I believe Canjar has a set trigger that is a drop in and it is adjustable from 1 oz. to 2 oz. when set and from 2 to 4 lbs unset. I have one on my Win. Mod. 70. I can't immagine a better trigger. Two in one.

Ruger 77 are kinda oddballs when it comes to aftermarket triggers.  You pay as much for a Remington or Winchester trigger, but don't get as good a trigger.  Lots of guys have done very well touching up the factory trigger, you don't have much to lose, you mess up then get the aftermarket.

I put a Timney in mine and it works great. It was not a drop in though, it requires a bit of fitting.

Rilfle Basix and Timney both make drop-in triggers for the Ruger rifles.  Availability might depend on the particular model, original M77 or M77 MKII.

There is an option, though.  My safe has more Rugers than anything else and all have the original triggers.  With the exception of the newest acquisition, an older .30-06 and my .22-250 VT (which has a target trigger from the factory), I have polished up the triggers myself and they are good to very good.  The .30-06 will get a trigger job when I get it home in a month or so.

If your Ruger has a sllide safety, the trigger is adjustable.  Both the adjustable and newer non-adjustable triggers are very easy to work on.   If you're not comfortable doing the job yourself a 'smith can clean them up very easily.

Jard makes a nice trigger for Rugers too. You have to select the pull weight you want though. That makes them a little different from the Timney.
