Yep, I have a Buck 110 Alaskan Guide folder from Cabela's with a BOS S30V blade that is always with me as a backup/help knife when I hunt deer, no matter what hunting knife that I am carrying. It is an outstanding leather sheath folder that my new Kershaw Gentleman's pocket folder may replace. Good luck.

FWIW, Mayhap the best heavy folder for work that I own is a Stanley with a German SS blade @ under $20.

I have been carrying the same Benchmade everyday since 1995. Only having replace the screws for the pocket clip about a year ago. Called Benchmade and they sent me the parts free of charge. Also carry a Leatherman everyday also. I have have been through about 4 leathermans and 1 Gerber multi tool in that same time.

The knife that gets carried the most by me in town is a little Spiderco Dragonfly. It is light and handy and gets lots of use. For the field my number one carry knife is a Spiderco Endura. They are very light weight, thin, and comforting to have at hand. I also always keep a Leatherman in my pack as well as a Glock Field Knife. When I travel I take the little Spiderco Dragonfly and a Kershaw Ken Onion.

Blademag wrote a letter to the Hawaii State legislature in Feb 09 when it was first introduced: http://www.blademag.com/article/hawaiibillwouldbanfolders/. Currently the bill has died in committee and it does not look like it will see the light of day this session. But it is expected to be revisited again next session. Some of the local stores, including the military exchanges, are already downsizing their pocketknife selections.

Of late I have been carrying a CRKT M21 G10, it is a very good light weight knife that takes and holds an edge well. My other knife is a Benchmade vex, which is also a good knife, maybe even better than my CRKT but is a little larger and heavier so it gets passed over most days. I must have gotten a bad Kershaw in the one I owned. It was a vapor, it was a good weight and design, and could be made shaving sharp, but it seemed like I had to sharpen it after every use. I never could get it to hold an edge, but after hearing everyone's good reviews of them I may have to try another model.

 Mine is a Bear Cutlery Carbon Barlow style, also use a basic leatherman and a buck 110. Cannot carry one visibly at work so the Barlow gets carried every day.

I carry a Winchester all staneless steel knife I got from walmart for 10 bucks but I got it professionally sharpened and now it is incredibly sharp.

I like to do a little woodcarving and whittling.  Best pocket knife so far (out of a dozen or so different knives and steels) Queen whittler in D2 steel is the hands down winner.  I sharpen this with the RAZOR system at home and get a scary sharp edge, after that I just repolish the edge on a lapidary wheel.  For everyday I also carry a Buck Lightning.  These are pre china manufacture with a half serrated blade.  It is an everyday tool that fit and felt right the first day i picked one up.  I waited till they quit making them and bid on a lot of 11 warehouse left overs from an Ebay knife broker.  I have never sharpened these, I just wait till a half dozen need a retouch and mail them to buck.  Since I have used these as screw drivers, levers, pry bars, and sheet metal piercing emergency tools Buck just keeps rebuilding them and sends them back sharp and looking like new along with a thank you letter for the business at no charge to me.
There is no way I will ever outlive the usefullness or working life of my Buck lightnings.  As a matter of fact if it's broke, they fix it.

By the way I am going to want to trade off a couple of unusal knives.  I have used GBO for firearms and reloading, can anyone tell me much reponse they have had here on knives.

My low cost carry knife is a CRKT M-16 10KZ with the auto-lawk (I know lawk is spelled funny) for a low to medium cost its hard to beat  my zytel handled Spyderco Clipit. ( which currently has a broken tip & is missing the pocket clip.

Just saw in the latest issue of blade magazine today that the M16-10KZ is by far the the most popular folder CRKT offers.  I got mine several years ago & it has the tanto paoint & & partially serrated blade. Actually bought 4 and gave one to my twin brother, one to a friend & another to a friend/hunting buddy. Great all around pocket kife

Kershaw JunkYardDog.  Used to carry a Kershaw/Ken Onion Scallion-for about 10 years but kept having to replace the broken plastic safety catches.  (Always free from Kershaw, but still a pain).  The JYD  is called a "flipper" so is NOT assisted opening like the Scallion but is actually quicker to open as there is no additional safety catch to mess with. I liked the Ken Onion designs-but this one is just better. Great steel and the blade shape is a cross between a Wharncliffe blade and a drop point. Only thing I hate about it is the Air Force logo (I was Army.)

I have carried quite a few knives hunting and fishing, working, or during recreation.  Bucks, Kershaws, Cold Steel, Case, Schrade, Mora, Spyderco.  I do not go into the woods without a Mora or my CS Master Hunter and Leatherman ti, I don't clean fish without my CS fillet knife, and I don't go anywhere without my Spyderco Native. If I could choose only one for edc, it would be the Native.  Takes and holds an edge, durable, stout, and lightweight.  I use mine daily.

I have carried a Benchmade for last 11yrs used it every day on patrol, as a bomb tech, haz mat tech, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and I have never had a failure or complainant! Well worth the 130.00 I have several cold steel voyagers good knife but I have broke several pocket clips both plastic an metal an 1 blade. I truly believe if you buy quality you get quality!

I'm partial  to Buck knives.,
My everyday right now is a old Browning 810 on my belt, and a little Buck Deuce in my pocket .
On my wish list is was a Buck 271 Alpha Dorado with a 2 1/2 inch blade , rosewood with leather sheath.
Right now due to economy all my wish list items will unfortunately have to stay on hold.

Aside from Buck a little Queen cocobolo stockman or Dogleg Jack would be awesome.

Well I pony-ed up and bought another Benchmade 710 McHenry & Williams 3.90 D2. Best damn knife I ever owned. I found a company in D.C. that would give me a Senior discount. I will not be layin this one down.

I carried a 3 dot case 3" drop point lockback with aluminum scales for 30+ years.  Finally figured out I left it on a fast food tray after cutting a sandwich.  It was very light and smooth so as not to tear up your pocket, but big enough to do everything I wanted to use it for.
I looked everywhere for another one but couldn't even find anyone who knew what I was talking about.
The big problem was that while looking for another one I kept finding these really neat knives that I had to have.  So after about 30 knives in a year, I finally settled on an AG Russell, 2 1/2 lockback with titanium scales that I carry in the little leather pouch that comes with it.  It hangs onto my magnetic money clip real nice.

for 10 years i have used my United Cutlery Outdoor Life extreme gear pocket knife for everything and it still works. Everything on it is  Stainless steel and i have used it in saltwater, skined a racoon with it and all kinds of suff.  It a little loose from useing it to open oysters with and the grips fell off but it still looks good.  I also carry a CRKT m16z knife sometimes.

But i just used a knife till it no go and buy i new one.

I normally have two. A small two blade winchester knife, it isnt super sharp but I use it for odd tasks where it might get dulled anyway. Then I have the bigger knife, a Kershaw OD-1. It has the flipper opening mechanism and is fast and really sharp. I was carrying a "skinner" knife the NRA sent me free, I can get an OK edge on it, but I wanted something that was capable of a better edge. Before that I carried a Buck 110...shaving sharp and can handle darn near any task. Only drawback of the 110 is size, they are not small nor light. I have a leatherman as well, now it (and the 110) reside in/on my bug out bag.

I would go with any Kershaw you like, they are real nice knives and as mentioned walmart carries a few, making the price hard to beat I am now partial to the flipper opening style, Spring assist is still a grey area in NY law from a carry standpoint, as I understand. I looked at the OD-2 yesterday at Dick's Sporting Goods, and Might end up buying that as a replacement for my small winchester knife. It was all of $25...

I carry two for every day use; a CRK Carson Design M16-10KZ and a Red Head CM08Cb that I bought at Bass Pro which has proven to be an exceptional knife for the money.

For hunting I carry a Buck Omni Hunter Folder which has a 4"drop point 420HC stainless steel blade that sure gets the job done skinning a deer. Recently I bought a hand made knife that has a blade made from an old file. Skinned a deer with it this week and it did an excellent job.

I also have a vintage Browning two blade folding knife that I use when carving canes. It holds an edge as good as any knife I've seen.

I always carry a Spyderco Delica 4, full flat ground in VG10, with G10 scales right front pocket. I also typically have a blind horse knives small tiger knapp around my neck - this is a small fixed blade in either D2 or 1095 IIRC.

I sharpen all my knives with stones and a leather hone. I go for a nice polished, shaving edge - but don't take the time to get them hair whittling sharp. VG10 takes some effort to get an edge, but it holds great and is the best slicer you will find for the $$

I foyu want some of the toughest folding knives out there take a look at the Zero Tolerance knives I have the 0350 and I have a 0301 on the way.(just because i think it's a awesome knife) Go on youtube and type in zero tolerance and there is a ton of torcher videos of them to see how durable they are. Myself if your looking for something for hard use benchmade is not the way to go back ten years ago when I was in the marines I carried a benchmade emerson. I tell yuh they have gone down hill since then.

I prefer the classic patterns for daily carry such as the Case stockman or a Boker Barlow.

I first bought a Zero tolerance 0350 but ended up wanting the 0301 instead and I ended up giving the 0350 to my girlfriend to carry. The 0301 is kinda big but I tell you it is a knife you can depend on in about any situation without a doubt in my mind. Zero tolerance it Kershaws military line of knives look on youtube to see some knife torchering. The are only two downfalls to most of the ZT line of knives is the price (the 0301 msrp is $239 but you can find them for $190 the 0350 msrp is 130 but can be found for $90) and their weight. the 0350 is 6.2 ounces and the 0301 is 8.2 ounces I really don't notice the weight myself but I suppose others would. Just my two cents
