update on walmart gun sales
« on: January 27, 2007, 12:36:02 PM »
Was in one of the local wal marts today and they had a sign saying no sales after jan 28.  i asked them if it was just that store, or all the ones in Wichita.  he said ALL stores are giving up gun sales.  not just our area, all of them.  now if this is true or not i dont know, but he sounded pretty adament about them all not offering firearms any more.

This is gettin real old! >:(

Some store employees don't have a clue what's happening nationwide, so they speculate that what happened at their store is happening to all stores, which isn't true, just those that don't meet WM's threshold for firearms sales which they announced almost a year ago.

Post subject: Spoke with Walmart HQ this morning

Here is what I got. I spoke with a Gentleman named Doug at the firearms center at Walmart HQ. About 1000 Walmart stores will still sell guns. Much has been made about customer demands. So if your Walmart does not have gun sales make it known to the local manager and write to Walmart HQ, have your friends write and tell the local manager. If there is enough customer demands they may put firearms back into those stores. They are still evaluating which stores will carry firearms. So if your store still has them, make it known that you want to keep it that way.

If stores do not sell firearms they can not special order firearms. They do not have FFL's at those locations.

Josh, I'm not sure it's straightened out, but at least 2 out of 3 stores, by their own declaration, will loose firearms sales, so there certainly aren't going to be near as many still selling firearms, that's for sure, unfortunately. :'(

Speaking of Bi-Mart, will they special order H&R/NEF rifles like Wal-Mart?

For us midwestern people, what is a bi mart.  I am assuming its like a walmart, kmart, target type of place?  Why cant you just order a gun out of the wards cataloug anymore.  My grandpa did that for years, sure would be a lot more convenient than all this other jazz.  (and just for clarity i do know why you cant mail order them any more)

BiMart is a Washington, Oregon chain, and one store in Idaho, they used to have a store in Montana too, but it appears to be gone.

The last Wally world in my area has done away with their guns. They were there just two weeks ago , a big display. Yesterday .they were gone. Once again the salesperson  said there would be no more guns  sold by the Wal-Mart chain. It's not a big deal , I buy my guns at a regular gun shop anyway ,instead of a chain , but the noose is getting tighter ,  in  N Y anyway.

Walmart thoughts and observations

After reading sevberal posts on these pages about Walmarts gun policys I did a wee bit of checking.
First the special order catalog is still on line but does appear a bit more limited that it used to be.
Second I went to one of the local Albuquerque NM stores, we have atleast six that I can name off hand. This one no longer has guns. The clerk said they removed them when they remodeled. His understanding was they were going to reduce the stores that carried them but not stop entirely, in the short term atleast.

I checked the store closer to my house and they still carry guns and the clerk said hes heard several things but he still gets them , orders them and sells them.

So who knows,,,big business in the US are not know for ethics or honesty. Atleast with few exceptions.

I was in Wally World about 12 miles from me today, they still have whole bunch of rifles and shotguns
I didn't check to see what they had. Marv.

Bluebayou, a member here and Walmart manager, got the word from his Hqtrs that a minimum annual firearms sales threshold of $70,000 is required to continue firearms sales, that's for firearms only, no ammo and blackpowder guns included.
