Savage Model 40 .22 Hornet Varmint Hunter Rifle
« on: January 26, 2007, 01:55:33 AM »
Went to local gun shop and put my money down on model 40. Wanted to know if any one is shooting one and what loads used.

Hey Buffalo,

I do,...Love the rifle.

All credit to Savage.

Favourite load so far is 40gr Nosler Ballistic-Tip on 13grs Lil'Gun and Small Pistol primer.

Have a look at the ' .22 Hornet '  thread in the 'Small Bore Rifle' here on GB.

There's some loads and pictures there.

cheers,
Sean

same here except 40 vmax. Its a little heavy for a hornet but shoots very well.
