NEF Production
« on: January 24, 2007, 09:47:55 AM »
I may be the only one who did not know this but here goes:

Called Sports South about availability of the synthetic 30.30, 45.70 and the Buffalo Classic, after Wally World checking and none were available. Seems H & R makes 2 runs of all  handi-Rifles , one in Feb/March and the other whenever. Did not ask about the other dates.

So...Patience is the order of the day.

Exactly, I find that very hard to believe, what are those 250 employees doing the rest of the year, it certainly isn't just accessory barrels!!!!! I suspect distributors may be on a recurring schedule, SSI is just one of em and that's when they get theirs.

So who else would be a distrubutor that will answer the phone  and have access to Handi-rifles?

I would like to have the blue, syn stock, 30.30 in my lifetime.

Thanks

Good Luck with that. The last time I saw one with the synthetic stock was in the Jerrys wholesale catalog when my buddy still had his FFL. It was on a close-out for $151 all the others were at $176. I would imagine that you would have to purchase a wood stocked handi and convert it.

Not a clue. That's what I got from Sports South. I suspect there is continuous production of something.

They may only ship twice a year to wholesale'ers, but I guarentee you they are in production year round. Machinests are hard to find in most areas (I'm one, and pretty familiar with the industry) and they aren't going to hire temps to make their stuff twice a year. I would imagine it to be a lot easier to continue manufacturing as usual year round, and deal with the hassles of shipping, ordering, and all that other hectic stuff twice a year. This would let them hire part time workers for a few weeks to help deal with the increased volume of shipping demands, while keeping their machinests and assmeblers busy year round.

Just my personal idea of what's going on based from my little experience in such areas.

When I got my .35 Whelen, I called the CEO (Mr Garrison) at NEF, told him I did not want a commerative to hunt Moose with. I just wanted a reguler Handi in .35 Whelen.   He told me to put in the order and they would barrel one up for me, that he had 15 or so barrels left at that time.  They barrelled one up for me and I got it four weeks after I ordered it.  So therefore I think they are making guns yearround.  I have herd that they get their barrels made by someone else and that they only get so many runs a year on them.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

It appears that H&R makes runs on a seasonal basis I am a dealer and right now you can find most of the varmit calilbers in stock but just a sprinkling of the deer calibers a few of not so popular calibers are out there a few of the ultras (high end Handis) other than that iit is pretty slim pickens. You can get about any of the 204 rugers and 223 rem you want in any trim level. The other thing is they tend to run there inventory down around the first of the year for tax purposes.
