Had a really nice visit today!!

I bought some t-shirts from the GBO store recently, ordered X-large, got the wrong size, contacted them and they sent the correct size and told me to keep the wrong ones or dispose of em. Remembering that Cheatermk3 said he was a big fella from one of our previous messages, and him not living too far from me, I contacted him and made arrangements for him to pick em up, he showed up today on my doorstep under the pretext of taking a survey of Handi owners!!! Had a very nice visit and met another Handiholic and gun nut in person!!

Thanks Mike, it was my pleasure to meet you, hope to do it again sometime!! ;)

Tim,

My experiences have been along the same lines. 

I have had the privilege of meeting a few of the GBO members.  Sure, they're also members of handloads.com, but we all have Handis of some sort and all have more than one Handi!  ;D  They're a great bunch and fun to get together with, even though we come from all walks of life.

I don't think we shot anything, rifle or handgun, that didn't start with a .4!  ;)

I haven't met any of you in person, but I've spoken to Mac and MSP (Andy) on the phone. It's nice to hear an actual voice like the old days before email. I hope I get the chance to meet some of ya'll in person someday.

It used to be a little easier to spot someone fairly close, when we had their location at the bottom of each post.  Now it's a little bit more involved and probably hinders getting together a little.  ::)

I also miss the location notes. Wish there was some way to get them back. That's why I added my location to my signature line.

I too had a chance to meet Cheatermk3 when he visited Montana a couple years ago. First rate guy.

Google maps is an interesting tour.  I just went to St. Louis, down on S. Broadway close to the Minnie Wood park and took a trip on streets I haven't been on in years... Meramec to Grand to Chippewa, to Kingshighway, to Natural Bridge to Florrisant Rd. to Ferguson, where I used to live.  I was born at St. Louis Maternity, which I think is Barnes now, but we moved to Texas in 1952.

I saw Stan Musial play at the old Sportsman's Park on Grand.  Went to the Highland Park and rode the old wooden roller coaster.  Slater Martin and Bob Petite were common names from the Hawks then, but alas, the last time I was on the state streets, my uncle said you need a CCW to travel that area!  :o  Places I used to run bare foot and play sandlot baseball with my two uncles (my bare feet always embarrased those city boys!) are no longer safe.  My grandparent's house on Oregon was an old farm house, back in the 1800's, the only single story dwelling in the 4300 block, but now ...

I guess things change everywhere and the older we get, the more they change.  Sometimes the changes bring sadness instead of joy.   :'(

Sorry for the trip down memory lane.  :)

I couldn't get logged on last night, gave up around 7:30--

It was great to meet another "handi=man" in the flesh!

About the rifles, all I can say is,...I SEEN 'EM!!

Looking foreward to another visit soon.
That's three now--I met Wally (mt 30-30)  and Jerry (mtJerry) 2 years on a PD hunt.  That was cool too!
