"New" Titanium scope base for Mod. 83
« on: January 17, 2007, 02:19:31 PM »
Attended the  Shot Show this past weekend and conversed with Wayne Baker---impossible to have anything but a nice chat with this fine gentleman. His newest scope base is a "see through" design  with the open sight part being adjustable (!!!) and is  beautifully designed and executed in titanium. This base will allow using the scope for accuracy at a distance and the open sight for immediate close shots. Also got some advice on a front sight change for my express sights as well as advice on bullet selection from Corey Pantuso. Corey was as gracious as Wayne. All the advice was free, but the scope base will be VERY expensive when it is available---I'm sticking to express sights with a new fiber optic front sight for now!  Gene

This FA see-through scope mount with the adjustable sliding sight notch has actually been around for several years, and been shown at several past SCI conventions going back to 2004 or perhaps even 2003. I don't know whether any were ever sold commercially.

I've shot with it some and I really like the design ... but I do not think they have ever pitched it much because it costs as much as a GOOD handgun scope.

I had not seen this scope mount before. I am under the impression that this one was no longer a prototype with the adjustable components now perfected. Perhaps they are custom made as ordered. Or maybe they just keep a few in stock for those impulse buyers! Exquisitely crafted. About 600 bucks if I remember correctly.
