Hey Rev Buck???

Was wondering what kind of oil you used on the wood on your Hunter.

Looked really nice in the pics on the Show & Tell thread.

Thanks,

YB

Hi YB,  I was using some Montana Pitch Blend to waterproof my new sling.  Montana Pitch Blend is actually a leather dressing that is a blend of pine pitch, mink oil, and beeswax.  While I had it on my fingers I went ahead and rubbed a thin coat on my stock because it looked so dry, and I noticed how it seemed to bring the wood to life.  I also took the rifle apart and applied some to the barrel channel and the rest of the insides of the stock to help waterproof it a bit.  I came upon it accidentally but am pleased with the results.  Rev

Oh, while I had it apart I rubbed the metal parts, receiver, and barrel with a thin coat of RemOil too.  Even the metal parts on mine were quite dry when I got it.  Now it's a happy rifle  ;D Rev

I have heard this more than once .... why are the Tikka's so dry in the wood and metal areas? That seems to be the opposite of the norm.

Thanks Rev, seems it really perked it up!

Jeepman, don't know why the Tikka's come thu this way, but I agree, it does seem a bit out of character for them.
