I looked, but didn't find
« on: January 14, 2007, 06:05:31 AM »
Hey guys, I looked and looked, but couldn't find the thread.  There was a topic here mentioned the grade/type of steel that NEF/H&R uses for the SB2 receivers.

Can someone tell me what it is, in particular, the case hardened SB2 receiver of the Buffalo Classic??  Please??

Thank you!!

Good luck on this one. I think they use proprietary steels especially designed for investment casting the strength of which changes as a result of casting and heat treatment. But I'll be watching this thread ::)

Hmm.  Thank you..

I'm planning on plating my BC with silver, so a little metallurgy info is needed.  I'm pretty sure I'll have to copper/nickel plate first for the silver to adhere.

Call Gordon at NEF and discuss it with him..He should be able to help you..
