I really like my Tikka in 338 Federal. I purchased it to use for black bear so I shot it in using 210 grain
ammo. I also have a Kimber Montana in 308 and always thought the recoil from the bench was about my maximum for recoil in a light weight rifle, that is why I went with Tikka for the 338 Federal. I purchased a Sims recoil pad before I ever shot my Tikka. From the bench shooting 210 grain the recoil is manageable but shooting off hand I don't even notice any recoil. The gun and caliber are quickly becoming my favorite combo. I didn't get a chance to try it on anything but a whitetail buck running on a dead run. Droped the buck in his tracks with one shot. I believe for over
all dollar value you can't beat Tikka. The trigger pull is as good as my Kimber, I think the action is smoother and I prefer the balance of the rifle over my Browning.
