I am just south of Stimpy, but I can tell you that I will be the only one around that has power if it goes out! Two years ago I lucked into a 5kw generator for $50.00, it needed the carb replaced was all, it runs fine and gets exercised once a month, I also keep a 5 gallon jerry can of gas for it with stabil in it.  ;D ;D

Just got to keep the rift raft away from the house and I will be just fine.

It's supposed to hit me at around midnight here in Durant Okla.,but its just raining for now.  Just put a mental picture of all the Praire dogs cuddled up in there holes out in the panhandle. With them cuddled up real close we should have a bumper crop of little one's to shoot in June, Stimpy.

Take care guys, here I am in the northeast, I hope to get up to the usually frozen and snow covered Maine for some coyote hunting in a day or 2 and stay for the week perhaps. It's usually below zero with a few feet of snow on the ground by now, but no snow to speak of and quite warm, but the coyotes are liking it I hear....be very very careful on those roads guys....<><.... ;D

I hear Al Gore claimed to have invented global warming, do you think there is any truth to that?

Thought you might enjoy seeing what we have for "severe weather" in the PRK...

SACRAMENTO . In response to forecasts for unusually cold temperatures throughout much of California in the coming days,
officials with the Governor..s Office of Emergency Services (OES) and the California Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) today urged Californians to prepare themselves, their family members, and their animals for the possible effects of the inclement weather.

The National Weather Service has reported to OES that temperatures will drop into the 20 and 30s Wednesday night into Thursday, followed by daytime temperatures in the mid 40s in most areas.  On Friday and into the weekend, temperatures will drop further, reaching the high teens to low 20s in most areas at night, and continued daytime lows in the mid 40s.

Exposure to extreme cold can be dangerous to your health,.. said Dr. Mark Horton, State Public Health Officer.  ..To protect yourself
in extremely cold weather remember to wear several layers of clothing, travel with caution and be alert for the symptoms of
exposure.

Suprised I made it through the day!
Ed

yup im just waiting on the boss to call so we can start pushin snow.  I think this storm has the possibility of really bein a bad one ice wise, but probably not too bad snow wise.  Plus if we lose power dad has a lincoln welder/generator so we are good.

I'll be thinking of you guys this weekend while I'm out shooting skeet in my short sleeves basking in the warm of 70+ temps and waiting for it to hit us late Monday or Tuesday. They are saying it might not rise out of the 30s here on Tuesday or Wednesday one of the other, I forget which but otherwise it will be 20s for lows and likely 40s for highs here.

Well...we lost power last night about 11:00.  Built the fire and and have the generator running so we can power the TV and satelite to see what is coming next.  We are supposed to get two more waves before it clears out on Monday and leaves us with bone chilling cold.  If the freezing rain breaks for for a while this evening, I am going to Take my 38-55 TM after a coyote.  The skinnyones and the ones with little or no hair will be out scrounging on these cold nasty days.

1/4"-1/2"ice  last night early morning...more coming tonite/tomorrow if the freeze line stays where it is..I hope it pushes back away from here...there's a small chance it will...They are calling for high winds tomorrow night..... so I may be on generators yet...Got my fingers crossed it will not be icing when it hits again...

I didn't sleep much last night, nothing new about that as it's about 5-6 nights in a row now. So I sure wasn't feeling too chipper this morning and was an hour late showing up to shoot. I still got in two rounds, the first with my .410 was a 21, I let the low house targets get away from me on stations three, four and five before getting my act back together. I then broke out the Krieghoff and shot a round with the 28 ga tubes and turned in a 23. Wore my mesh vest over a t-shirt and was a bit warm but made it OK. Had to turn on the AC on the way home to cool off.

We haven't gotten it too bad here in Durant, OK yet. Mostly rain. There is about 1/4" ice on the trees and and powerlines, and my PU is covered up in it too. Supposed to continue through the weekend, but we somehow always skirt the worst of the stuff right where we are for some reason. Traffic seems to moving quite well on the highway in front of my house. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm staying inside unless absolutely necessary not to.

I just finished washing 4" of mud of my truck from checing traps this morning.56 degrees and 2 inches of rain yesterday here in the Hoosier state. Down to 35 now with rain ,sleet, snow mix coming. Down to 8 on wed. If you don't like the weather in Indiana, wait ten minutes, it will change. LOL.

hoosierhunter.  Indiana weather.  Having lived in Central and SW Okla, North central and Central Indiana, Indiana and Oklahoma weather are about the same when it comes to change, hang on to your hat, here it comes!.  You will find that Okie weather changes a lot more but does not get the long deep cold spells near as much.  Both are windy, Indiana has higher humidity.
Okla does not have as many small lakes but does have a lot more shoreline.  Anyway, all the ice makes for a lousy day to shoot or hunt
