The grip works fine for me.

I did start making new forends. No problem with the .45 WinMag or the 7-30, but I shoot my .223 mostly off sandbags and I wanted a nice fat, flat, front to back tapered forend (for raising and lowering the point of aim). It helps.

It took me three tries. The first wasn't right, the second was ugly but worked, the third works and is beautiful to me.

There are companies that make forends, if you don't want to do it yourself.
