charles daly rifles?

are these fairly good quality rifles for deer hunting?

They are made by Zastava, in the former Yugoslavia. These are the same people that made Mark X Mausers. CD lost their contract to Remington, which now sells them as 798s. I used an action to build a custom gun on. It's not a full $2000+ custom, but a $1000 one. Because C/D no longer sells them, there have been some good prices ($300 more or less). For around that price I think that they are a great deal. If you find one for that, buy it and let me know if there are others. If it is closer to $400 it's still ok, but not a 'deal.' BTW, the action may seem a little rough/stiff at first, but shoot or work the action a couple hunderd times  and it'll be ok. capt david
