"Trijicon" Front Sight For a Model 340 PD
« on: January 05, 2007, 02:01:37 AM »
I just got off of the Trijicon website trying to uncover if they carry a replacement front sight for the S&W Model 340PD.  My search on their website proved to be unsuccessful, therefore I was hoping that some of you would have some objective knowledge of such a sight.  If, a sight does prove to be available I now wonder about the problematic issues of the gun catching on pockets, wastebands, etcl.

Thanks,

JHT

JHT,after looking at the Trijicon site I came to the same conclusions,I think the possibility of it hanging up on clothing,or holsters ,was problematic so I did not go that way.Instead I went with CrimsonTrace grips    hth  Doug

Doug,

Thanks for your reply.  Just curious though, which of the available Crimson Trace grips did you choose, the larger more manageable grip or the smaller more concealable shaped grip?  I am inclined to go with the smaller grip as concealability is an issue that I must address, but as you know the 340PD needs as much help as is possible in taming its harsh recoil.

JHT I went with the smaller size grips,I agree the recoil is a bear, but I practice  with my carry ammo at least every two weeks.I am a firm believer in shooting loves for practice and if you need it in a fight I have never felt the recoil when I was in extreme danger   Doug

Hi J,

Had one on a SW M60 with hybriports.  It was the nuts!!!  Until the first round went off and totally obliterated the sight (gas from the ports).

I have one on my colt LW and AR-15...will do again on an HP.  I've never had one hang up.  I'd get them.
