i was wondering if anyone of you had any comments or experience with the m-49 i got one in single shot 22 i don't know how it shoots got it in a trade today for a small pistol just curious about your thoughts i would prefer a henery or one of the many others but it is a start for my lever collection boght some ammo today to so will have to get out and shoot it soon also got a m-66 super single 20 ga if you have any thoughts about those to

I've got one of the Ithaca M-49 single shots - have had it for quite a few years.  For the money I spent (can't remember, but wasn't much), it's a fine beginning rifle for kids.  Has a youth size stock, and kids like the "Winchester" look.  The hammer has a pretty stiff spring, so younger kids can have trouble cocking it.  It's plenty accurate, and my grand-kids have put thousands of rounds thru it with no malfunctions.

when i was a kid my buddy had one and i dont know how many bricks of ammo went through that old gun but it was many. It was a good gun.

They seem to be a good started gun. My brother and law bought one a year or so ago and we have shot a lot of ammo through. It's a fun gun to shoot for sure, and it seems to be pretty accurate. They have been going for around 100-150 at gun auctions in my neck of the woods.

i got this one in a trade for a 25 auto pistol i didn't have any interest in keeping will get out and shoot it and will be good if my daughters decide they want to hunt or shoot i will get it out next week and see how it shoots

I have had one of the litlle Ithaca 49s for most of my life,  I got it when I was about 10, at that time a boy could be trusted to spend his yard mowing money on 22 rifles and Mom and Dad not get a visit from social services.  There is no telling how many rounds of 22 ammunition that little rifle has fired but it is a bunch.  It is not a target rifle but it will always be near and dear to me and for a beginners gun it is great, short, light weight, single shot, external hammer just a good little set up.  I hope you enjoy yours

Igrew up with one too. It wasn't really mine , but my Dads. Dad is gone now but as long as I live that little gun will have a home with me. I shot a mess of squirrels with it and got off the luckiest shot ever with it. I shot the head of a swimming snake, from the hip no less. Couldn't do it again in a thosand years but it sure impressed the city folk that were watching.

i like it and will keep it need toget out and shoot it this week thanks for your input anybody know much about the m-66 ithaca lever action shotguns

The M-66 is just like the .22, a great little shotgun. I live about 40 miles from Ithaca, it seems like in the 1960's and 70's, every kid started with a M-49 and/or a M-66. i'll probably pick one up soon for old times sake.

i am watching for the other m-66 i think they made them in 12ga, 410, and 28 i have to check i am goping to try and shoot the m-49 this week hopefully

I got one for my 12th B-day in '69, shot alot of re squirels with it (use to chop off their tail and hang them on the bedroom wall). It always seemed to be a good shooter. When I left home I left it behind but I got it from my moms house about five years ago. Glad to have it back and my 13 year old daughter likes to shoot it. She's pretty good with it but she sure as heck wont shoot at any living thing. We have fun at the range together though.

Really neat little guns. Mine is very accurate but will no longer eject the shells right.
It pulls them out far enough to finish the job with my finger-nail though.
