The 243 Superlight is the most finicky of the Superlights, the thin contour barrel and fast heating caliber aren't the best combination, lots give up on em before findng a good load, but they can shoot good with some patience and slow shooting!!

If I didn't have other projects I would like to work with a 243 Lightweight barrel. I believe the forearm stability, strength/pressure would be main culprit.
Sense most NEF/H&R barrels are cut to a heavier contour most all forearms are suited to this wider fit. And I think using these forearms for SuperLight contour barrels leave too much room. I believe a wood forearm would be easier to fit the contour with a little sanding to fit the barrel and maybe some bedding to solidify the whole package...
Though I won't speak for all, as I know there are many out there that have accurate SuperLights.
I wish I had the time to really give one a go with different forearms and loads... :-\

I've tried just about everything to make mine shoot well nothing seems to help.  However it does shoot the lighter bullets well 85gr and below.  I get about 2'' with 85gr game king if I hold my mouth right.  About 4'' or worst with 95gr or 100gr. And I have spent way to much time trying to make it shoot not to mention several hundred dollars worth of shells.

The 243 standard contour barrel and a set of synthetics coupled with a low weight scope, is very easy to carry.
If thats still too much, you could always have the barrel cut down and short.

I personally feel that the standard contour barrels are not bad to pack around, length is nice and the balance is great. But to each his own I suppose, thats what makes them even more appealing. You can -within limits- build what kind of rifle/shotgun/muzzleloader you want  8)

is there much weight difference between between standard contour and bull barrel?  I've never compared them side by side. All my handis are shotguns or bull barrels.

The closest comparison with like bore sizes I can do is a 308 bull barrel weighs 4lb-2oz, a 30-06 stainless standard contour weighs 3lbs-10oz.
