There is excellent factory 240-grain ammo for both hunting and target shooting. When you say "range" what do you mean? A hunting maximum range will depend on your ability to hit an animal with a fatal shot. I've fired .44 Magnum T/Cs very accurately out to 220 yards on the silhouette range, with groups small enough to give killing hits 100% of the time. But that is at a known range firing prone in creedmore - I'd not try it in the field. 100-125 yards is probably a better maximum, again if you can place your shots in a vital zone. If not, then 50 yards. Or 25 yards. It is entirely up to you, there is plenty of power out to 200 yards.
If you mean maximum safe range, then it could be up to a mile depending on the launch angle.
