A friend of mine ask me if anyone on here has used 300 gr. Partition Gold on Deer or Black Bear, and are they worth the money? I told him I'd ask.Dave

I use the standard Super X of same weight.  Not sure of benefit the Part. Gold may bring.  ...might be better on bigger black bears than the Super X.

I shoot clover leafs at 50yrd w/open sites.  Victims include a couple ground hogs 125yrds, 150+yrds.   And the deer below last year's season.  I dont think the slug expanded at all because the in/out holes were the same diameter.  After it was hit, it fell like it was knocked down, then it jumped up and ran 30ft(into a brier patch  >:( ) and expired immediately.

Out hole on the left shoulder, was hit just behind the right front leg.  Top of heart and path through lungs were mush.

The Partition gold is some great ammo...and the beauty of is it will hold together and punch on thru where as on bad angles or longer ranges most others will stop short..My 2425fps load with the same bullet is some of the most accurate and deadly 45-70 ammo I have ever used...and will work on just about anything walking on this continent...Granted it is loaded much hotter than the Winchester load..but the benefits is a much longer PBR with it as compared to the factory offering...If your a Partition fan and like the benefits it will offer...then by all means try some and see...Another good choice is the factory 300 grain Federal load...it holds together well..and is almost as good...

Dave...Please make sure you add the lead to the stock and use the cheek piece like I said..It will help it make it much more enjoyable to shoot...otherwise you probably won't last more than a few rounds with it...Have you found a place to get some of the Rubatex I mentioned yet..If you haven't PM me your mailing address...and I'll send ya a piece of it..
