Sell, give, or throw the gun away right now.  I can already see you have stepped onto the slippery slope of being a handihalic.  You will have more fun with these little rifles than is reasonable.  I bought a 308 as a beater truck gun and I was hooked, now I have the 308, a 357, and 2 shotgun barrels.  I am getting ready to get a 30-30, and 22 hornet.  It is terrible, I have a lot of guns that used to see a lot of field time, now it seems to always be a handi, you'll see.  As far as calibers, I would suggest a 357 for the pistol cartridge and a 223 for the varmint round, if you reload, the hornet is a great little round.  Good shooting

LEO was right on just about every point, especially the .223 and .357 Mag, the best choices out there bar none. But thinking about it you would not want to argue with (a) LEO now would you!!!!....<><.... ;D

P.S. with the 30-06, a .223 barrel and a .357 Mag barrel, possibly reamed out to .357 Max but great as
it is, you are set for just about anything on the North American continent. Add a shotgun barrel or 2 and you have everything covered, good luck and enjoy yourself....these fine little guns are FUN!!!!

Mine likes the Remington Express Core-Lokt PSP 150gr from Wal-Mart. It shot good right out of the box so I haven't done anything to it except mount a scope on it ;D

The 30-06 shoots fine and if I'm not mistaken the standard barrel 06 is the only barrel they make but it's heavy enough. I've shot 180, 165 and 150 grain through mine not to mention what amounts to very hot 30-30 loads with 170 grain flat points. They all shoot well. Had a little pressure point problem with mine causing vertical stringing but once I did a little sanding on the fore end and put some bedding in, it was fine. Almost as accurate as my 06 bolt action ... but, a lot more fun to shoot. Makes a fine woods rifle ... real Handi!  :D
