270

I seen a new ultra 270 at a gunshop today it had a ported barrel and beautiful green and grey laminated stock.  They wanted $300. , too much for a caliber I dont need and also right before the holidays.

Like this one??? That's not that bad of price!! Just save enough money to include hearing protection for hunting with it!! It's called and Ultracomp, made by H&R a few years ago. They had several barrels for sale last year, a bunch of us got in on them until they were all gone. I bought this .30-06 from Mac, it's an original. I also have a .270UC accessory barrel with red lam stock. The camo lam stocks are still available from H&R for about $103, part numbers are in the FAQs.

That would be one of the Ultra-Comp's...and is a fine rifle...$300 isn't a bad price for it...especially if it's new...or in great shape...The Ultra-Comp's a darn good shooters...at least the 4 I've owned were...See if they can hold it for you till after the holidays if your interested...maybe you can talk them down some in price...

I thought about buying the gun and selling the barrel. I figured with ebay prices I could get a little back.  then send in for a caliber I wanted, 270 isnt very usefull for me. I cant use a rifle to hunt deer in Indiana, and its a little much to be punching paper right now.

If you buy it and want to trade the .270 barrel for a .280 Remington barrel or a couple of shotgun barrels let me know....<><.... :)

MSP, I thought of you and your misfortune on the UC barrel and H&R when I was posting. :'(

I was thinking more along the lines of getting a 223 barrel, it would be cheaper to shoot and plenty of fun.

Hello again motordog80, well I looked at my .223's, picked them up and looked through the scopes and came back to the computer all set to say I was going to keep them both since I know I have shooters and like you I can shoot the .223's (a lot!!) for cheaper money and get more use out of them. however as Quick mentioned I was given bad info by the company when I ordered my 30-06 compensated barrel, they told me they were out of .270 Comp's so I could not get one, a week later they sold and fitted .270's to other members and I missed out.
SO, if you buy that .270 and want to swap the barrel for a 22" Bull Barrel in .223 contact me, I like you really don't need a .270 but I don't have one and do have a couple of .223's so I can trade one...Merry Christmas....<><.... :)

Thanks Mac, I am really riding the fence on this trade so I will be satisfied whichever way it goes, That does not happen very often and it's kind of a nice feeling with no angst (anxiety) involved.....<><.... :)

If you want to sell the .270 comp. straight out and a trade doesn't work between you two, please let me know.  I've been looking for one of these barrels for awhile, either in .270 or the '06.

Well guys it did not work out, no .270 comp barrel for me, it was gone when motordog went back to buy it. It was sold as a Christmas gift, I am sure someone had a very Merry Christmas when they got that gift, a H&R .270 Ultra Comp with camo laminate stocks!!!!....<><.... :)
