Ok, time for a real FUN gun and I need your help.
« on: December 19, 2006, 03:09:38 AM »
I've got most areas of shooting and hunting covered.  Got my single shots, my rimfire hunters and shooters, bolt actions, lever actions, shotguns, ccw, personal defense, etc...  You get the picture.  For my next weapon, I want something FUN, and FUN is one thing I know you folks know about.  Just as a couple of ideas I've been having:  a Bisley 45, Mini-14, something black, Springfield 1911-A1.  How about it.  I'm going to budget $800 for it.  So keeping with that, how about some fun ideas?

You might try this subject over in the handgun and/or revolver forum. It appears to me you are in need of a six shooter such as a Ruger Vaquero in .45 lc. I have several revolvers and they sure are a lot of fun. If you reload, the .45 lc is a great cartridge and if you don't, there are factory "cowboy" loads to choose from. Everyone wants to go shooting with me when the six shooters and the Marlin 1894 CBC are taken.

I almost forgot the best part ... you won't need all of that $800 for this idea.

Hmmmm something just for fun...Well...I think a fully customized Handi in a 405 Winchester like Quicks would be fun...or our 338-06 A-Squares...my 270 Winchester...Fred's  octagon barreled 257 Roberts...or any other customized Handi...I think all of these little rifles are fun...

Sir, you asked for suggestions. Here is mine. Go get one of these puppies. Any variation. Althought this is a primarily defense model, I just happen to have it with me during a P-dog shoot last summer. Get the BRD (Black Rifle Disease). You will never get bored and it has endless possibiliities. I now have 5 platforms and am planning on #6. Thank goodness our firearm hobby has so many different paths to follow.

Man so many choices... A good SKS is always a ton of fun. Not to mention very affordable and functionable. Mil. Surplus is, usually, very cheap to shoot and enjoyable. A nice -03 is something to appreciate, and I don't know many people that would knock that decision.

There is the upper end of long range shooting. But be warned, this persuit can get expensive very quickly, but man the feeling of reaching out there beyond the limits and connecting! 8)
And if ya want to get crazy a 50cal BMG is crazy. But almost impossible to get into with $800..

Or why not just get a bunch of Handis in fun calibers?  :) and by that, I guess to me that includes all of em ;D

I think if given 8 bills to spend on fun guns I' find a mixture of used handis and toppers. or maybe a complete hindi and a bunch of barrels.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

I bought a couple of Saiga's,1 in 223 and 1 in 308.Ther're made on the AK 47 action and work like a charm. Mine are also very accurate.  Digger

Ruger's Mini-14 isn't known for accuracy -- i don't think.   that takes the fun out of it right now!

i'd buy a Bisley in .44 mag' instead of .45LC.   it's probably capable of greater accuracy, and it certainly is intended to develop more power out of the Bisley (as opposed to a Freedom Arms in .45 LC I'd suppose).    (you can get a better load density with the .44 mag' in a revolver that's built like the Bisley, too.)   one of the Bisley-gripped variants of the Super BlackHawk would be my idea of filling out a firearms battery like you seem to have.   the Bisley grip on a SBH, such as on Ruger's website, is my idea of a revolver!

good shooting to you,
