I don't have the prohunter, but I do have the origional 45-70 Katahdin for the Encore. The barrel fits the encore frame, but I did need a new forend to handle the heavy barrel.
The gun handles very well and is great for carrying through the thick stuff here in Central PA. When I throw it over my shoulder, the 18" barrel is well below the top of my head, which eliminates the annoying snags on tree limbs.
Loaded under the max pressure for the Marlin lever guns along with the ported barrel realy makes this gun fun to shoot. I also have the 7mm-08, 223, and 50 Cal, but I really enjoy taking the Katahdin to the range. Get one and you will love it.
