375 H&H Prohunter Like It???????
« on: December 14, 2006, 04:29:07 PM »
Just got my new 375 H&H in the new ProHunter SS 28" with the Flex-Tech Camo Stock.  I loaded up some 300gr Swift A-Frame bullets with 67.0 gr of RL 15 powder and took it to the range.  It shoots like a friggin dream.   Very little recoil (my 5'2" 135lb bride can shoot it)   about 2500 FPS   about the same recoil as my 12 gauge with 3" mags in it.  This is about as excited as I have been over a new gun for years and hope it continues.    Just wondering if anyone else has the new 375 H&H and how they like it. :)

Glad to see the good report. Also glad to hear someone else say the recoil of a 375 H&H is not bad. I have said it and got blasted for saying I thought the recoil was not bad.  ;)

I had a 375 H&H and a 416 Rigby for my Encore and both shot great.

My neighbor just ordered the 416 Rigby barrel.  Can't wait to try it out on my ProHunter.    I have a friend that shoots nothing but the 375 H&H for all aspects of Hunting.  He loads his shells very hot  ( 3 to 5 grains over Max) to get more speed and it does kick the S*$t of of you but if you load them like they are supposed to be loaded    (around 2500 FPS) then about anyone can shoot them.  My reloads have about 49,000 cup pressure according to Alliant Powder and I could reload them up to 56,000.    :) :D

I would recommend you don't shoot your buddies over Max loads. Speed does not count if you don't have accuracy,  and shooting such hot load can cause major problems to the gun and shooter.
