I posted a similar topic on wing shhoting and will ask the say question here. i am thinking of shooting my Nova 20ga with 3" Hevi shot at snows this season. i used the same gun on Pheasants with great results. killed my largest bird at close to 50 yards and the bird was dead in the air. Thought for snow's around 40 yds te same results should occur. I just enjoy and shoot this gun better than the rest. Jess

It'll kill them, a .410 will kill them. A 12 ga 3" hevi shot would provide a denser pattern with more energy to transfer to the target. That's what I shoot at sky carp.

Yes it will work. Like dukiller said a .410 will work. Heck one pellet out of 80 can bust a wing or brain them but the denser your pattern is the better the odds are in your favor. A gutshot goose may come down but that may be 1 mile from where you are.

Gentlemen I agree I have been bustin Geese for 40 years and when lead was legal killed my biggest Canada with a load of #4's out of my 20ga. In those days i shot #2 or #4 out of my Mossberg 500. Today I don't like getting my backside jolted, with that sais my primary Goose gun is a Mossberg 835 shooting 3 1/2" BB's. The heavy shot just gave me some food for thought. Jess
