Handi 45LC
« on: December 08, 2006, 12:24:29 PM »
Has the Handi ever come out with a 45LC ? I would like a handi, not the the survivor. Don't see one on their site but know they come out with calibers and drop them. ???

Not yet, other than the .45C/.410 survivor, but next year they'll offer the Buffalo Classic in .45LC with a 20" barrel, that means it will be on the accessory barrel list sooner or later and could be ordered and put on your Handi frame. ;)

I wonder if they'll get the specs right--hate to see another 38-55 style fiasco--think 459 bore in a tight chamber---

I guess all we can do is hope they get it and the .444 Marlin Handi right, it would be a shame if they repeat history with both of em. :'(

I didn't know that's what they had in the plans!  I have a BC frame/receiver and butt stock in the works and was thinking about either putting my .357 Mag barrel on it or waiting for the .45 Colt barrel for it.  Of course, I've been advised to put a lighter kicker on it to actually be able to enjoy the steel butt plate!  ;)

I'd get one in 45 colt. Big fan.

I really wish they'd have brought out one with a 22" barrel.  A caliber like the .45 Colt in a heavy gun like the BC doesn't make sense to me.

The BC isn't heavy, it has the same frame as the rest of the line, it's just case colored, the walnut stock isn't heavier cuz it's thinner, even with the metal butt plate it weighs 1lb-9oz which is lighter than a pallet wood MC set which weight 1lb-10oz. The only thing heavier on the BC is the 32" barrel!! The 45LC with a standard contour 20" barrel will be a lightweight in an H&R!! ;)

Hey Quick, a fellow asked a question in the classified section, can the .45 LC be fired out of a .450 Marlin chambered barrel?....<><.... :)

Oops, I see you beat me to it and answered already, you really earn the nickname every day don't you!!!Thanks....<><.... :)

Yeah Tim--I have a Classic 38-55 with a 45-70 barrel too--the 45 colt with a 20" tube will be a sweet setup--I've had the Classic(same as BC) wood on my 44mag and I really like it.  The 45 colt will certainly not suffer for having 2" less barrel than the standard Handi.

Quick, do you know if the factory will be supplying the rifle with the same sights they put on the BC?

I don't know, we can't even get anyone at H&R to admit knowing about it!! ::) The only thing we've seen is the listing at Sports South.

I'm sorry, I thought it was going to be the regular BC with the long heavy barrel.  The 20" tube will be great.  I hope they shorten the forearm a little to make it look right.

I don't think it looks all that bad with the forend as is, but different strokes. :D

I have the BC stock set on my 22" .30-30 and I think it would look better if the forearm were a little shorter.  I'd like to have the forearm from a 20 gauge Delux Classic if it would match my BC buttstock.

I habe been wondering if I can use a barrel band to attach my front sling swivel like Joel did on his .45-70 with the BC forearm.  Does it extend so far forward that the barrel dia. would be incorrect for the band?

There's gotta be a barrel band out there you could buy that will fit--Brownell's maybe?

I just happen to have a TDC forend, it looks great, matches the BC stock pretty well! Barrel bands have been discussed before, after Matt gets the search fixed, I'll look em up.

Tim,

The last one you posted is looking right!  I'm assuming TDC is Topper Deluxe Classic?  I need to know what to order when I send it in.  ;)

Yes, but I ordered that one from Brownell's, but I think H&R sells the same one.

Paul, I think it's part number S02121, but it doesn't say it's checkered, need to confirm that if you order it. It's listed in the youth stocks.

Thanks Tim!  I didn't have that price list, so it was a welcome addition.  :)

It's been in the FAQ for quite a while in one form or another, was in .jpg, but when the forum software was changed to SMF, it became unreadable, so I changed it to .pdf and hosted it myself. ;D

I guess I don't think of the FAQ as being a work in progress and therefore fail to check it very often.  Maybe I need to change the way I think of things?  ::)

I don't know that I'd call it a work in progress, but I do add to it or correct errors if I can, as I find em. ;)
