need calibers for projects
« on: December 05, 2006, 05:07:41 PM »
With in the last year I have seemed to collect a few extra rifles that I want to change to other calibers.
The donor guns are:
1 SA Rem 700 (243)
3 LA Rem 700 (270)
1 LA Mag Rem 700 (7mm)
1 LA Mag Weatherby Van (7mm)
1 LA Weatherby Van (30-06)
Ok this is my list of calibers I THINK I need:

308 win on Rem SA

6.5mm-284 or 6.5-06 on Rem LA
6mm Reminton on Rem LA

300 RUM on Rem Mag LA

7mm STW on Weatherby Mag LA

If you had to pick 7 calibers wildcat or not what would they be? The 270 and 22-250 are not options and two choices can be magnums (have to fit the rem 700 and weattherby van action).
Thank for any input,
Mark

I would take a short action remington and make a 22-243. start with hart 1/8 twist barrel so you can shoot serria 80 gr. match hp then get some lupa 243 brass load it with reloader 25 and enjoy 400yrds flatt. I am sure that there will be several replys that you will burn the throught out to quick. I had one built a year ago and am up to 700 rounds threw it with no throught erousin. The man that talked me into building this rifle has the exact same setup that he is pushing 3000 rounds and still shooting one holers @ 100yrds. This is not something to take to parrie rat field but does a great job on everthing I have shot at. coyotes, deer and even 1 buffalow shot in the head at 120yrds.
