7.62X39/Mil. Ammo

One fello came into a local gunshop & said his 7.62X39 Handi would not shoot his Mil. Ammo. I suspect some cases may be sized small & slightly recessed in the chamber, but I don't have one to look at. If this has been discussed before, sorry I did not see it. Has anyone ran into this. My brother just bought one so that his grandkids could practice with the cheapie stuff. Thanks!!!

I would suspect a problem with the chamber rather than the cartridges. My 7.62x39's eat every thing I feed them. Brass case, steel case laquered and unlaquered !

I disagree, as would most folks that have been reading any of the NEF forums since the release of the 7.62x39.  MOST milsurp 7.62x39 have recessed primers and the primers are extra-hard so as to reduce slam-firing and mis-fires with automatic weapons.  I have not heard of anyone that has a Handi that will fire this stuff.  The ammo for these must be American & commercial grade.  Wolf does not work either.

Yes Robert, I don't doubt it. I have no interest in the round, therefore I have not been reading the
7.62X39 threads.
I just found out that my brother called NEF & they stated there are problems firing Mil. ammo. I feel they should have stated this right along with selling the gun, most people I know would not want to
buy the gun if it can't fire Mil.

Anybody want a 7.62X39, let me know, I know he will sell it now.

nope all i could find around here was rem. fmj, umc and soft point. All were rem. and all had misfires in them about 2 per box

I have a good shooting 7.62x39 it has only had commercial ammo and has never failed to fire. The cartridge does sit at least .050 deeper in the barrel than any other caliber I have ever look at.
