Value of Topper in 30/30
« on: December 03, 2006, 12:57:14 PM »
Auction coming up next weekend, there is a Topper 30/30 with Weaver 2.5x on top.

Approximately value?  Have not seen it....so give me a perfect condition price and "rode around in the gunrack" price.

Thanks!

I've seen them go for $250-$300 for excellent condition...without scopes...$150-$200 used...Figure the scope to add $25-$75 in like conditions...I had one of them...and the one I had was a excellent shooter...factory and handloads...

Has anybody else noticed the price the old Weaver scopes are going for?

K4's, K6's, M8's, etc, etc.  I have seen some priced in the 100 tp 120's...have seen several purchased in the 65-85 range.

I have a K6, but it does not work correctly.

Recently saw a 2.5 that was flawless..inside and out.  Very clear as well.

If your K6 doesn't work correctly then you can send it to Weaver Scope Repair in El Paso,Texas and they will refurb it completely.I have a Weaver V1.5-4.4X20 which I bought 30 years ago.Last year I sent it to them and they completely refurbed it for $59.
The old Weaver scopes are fantastic.I look for decent older ones at every gun show I attend.

Keep in mind that rifle has a tapered barrel, which makes for a very light rifle. If it is a later topper ( model 58?) you can fit it with the synthetic butt and forearm and cut off even more wieght, makes for a very neat American version of the English "stalking rifle". Price? I'd say NIB maybe 225, used about 125, and well worn blue and tattered wood maybe 75-100, assuming bore is good. Well worth getting if in good shape and bidding doesn't go crazy.
