In all our discussions about your 338-06, I don't remember what twist rate you got.  Also have you or Quick tried the heavy stuff yet 250+?

I'll have to answer tentatively for Mac, his power has been out since Thursday night's ice storm. :'( Mine is throated for 250gr bullets, I've shot 250gr Sierra GK spitzer boat tails and 230gr partitions, shoots excellent, twist rate is 1:10". It also shoots 200gr BSTs very well!

Not sure yet how my barrel is throated, but it too has 1-10 twist.

Mac was saying the BL C2 is temp sensitive.  How much so?  If I worked up a mid to high mid power level load out here in the winter (about 40 deg avg)  would it be likely to overpressure in the summer (95-100 avg)?

Those are some nice groups, hope mine does as well.

He did some testing of the BL-C2, it wasn't all that bad as I recollect, not enough to make a miss due to lower temps,  but I'll leave the details to him since I don't remember the specifics about it, hopefully he'll get his power back on and things will get back to normal for him and everyone else affected by the bad weather.

Back on line at last...Man I hate power outages...they are such a drag....

I've found BL-C2 to give around +85fps difference when it's 95deg...and about -65fps when it's 30 deg.

If your pushing max loads with it in the summer...becareful...you can over do it quite easily...Winter shooting isn't bad at all...Hogdons says it runs near 140FPS SD total...and my chrony says the same...This was with a mid range load...3 grains from max with mine....I found I had to increase a full grain to achive the same velocity when the temps went below freezing...Accuracy wise for powder...I haven't found anything more accurate and consistant in mine... From reformed 30-06 brass...35 Whelen brass...or standard Weatherby factory brass...using Remington 9-1/2 primers...seated .003" off the lands...with the bullets...

I'm on a generator right now...Power is supposed to be back on sometime today...

Handi...I had about 1" difference when it was hot...and about 1/2" when it was cold...

I agree, it's nice to have you back Mac!!! Best of luck with getting "back on the grid". Have you been able to keep warm with no electricity....<><.... :)

Well...I have since I hot wired the generator into the furnace... ;D I hope to have everything restored sometime this afternoon...The Electric crews are busting their butts getting all the downed tree's lines & poles back up...Ice storms are the worst...We got crews here from as far away as Florida working...and Ameran said they will stay here till everything is restored this time...last year on Memorial day...we were down 3 days...before we got power back...I did manage to aquire a nice portable generator...it will suffice till I get a whole house 15-20 KW gas fired one in a couple of months...I hate having to spend as much as I will be...but...these outages really suck...Over the last 2 years...I have had 26 outages lasting over 24 hours...5 of them have been for over 48 hours...3 of them over 72 hours... :o :o :o....They have cut back and downsized so much with the utility companies employee's the past 5 years...We used to have about 15 crews that just took care of all the trimming of trees ...now they contract it out and are on a 9year maintanance program...Way too long for softwood trees growing up in the lines...Hopefully this will light a fire under the corporate end of the company and they can hire more workers to take care of the problem...It will be weeks before everybody is restored as it is...from the guys working my neighborhood...there is still about 200,00 still out...
