What ever happened to Remington
« on: November 30, 2006, 11:08:09 AM »
I was wondering what has happened to the Remington line of SAUM's? They seemed to be comparable to the Win Short Mags. Armalite even chambers them (SAUM's) vs's the WSM's.

all the short action mags will eventually die out.... except maybe the 300 wsm

In regards the saum.... they never really got the same popularity as the winchester short mags.... dunno why

That's because the WSMs came out first (I think) and because the WSMs are a little faster.

The really good thing about the SAUMs is that they can truly fit in a small action.

I think that, in the WSM line, the .300WSM is definately here to stay, and the .270 WSM is in second place.  I don't expect the 7WSM to last too terribly long.

Winchester Olin and Winchester FN have nothing in common other than FN buying license rights from Olin.

Like all the short mags, they don't do anything that can't be done with existing cartridges.

I have the .300 WSM and the .25 WSSM and really like them both.  I think they fit a needed nitch for short action cartridges.  I also think they will be around for a while.  At least during my time, which is numbered.  I am totally satisfied with the both of them.

I just wish there was a little more ballistic info on the .25 WSSM.  The only complaint I have is with the .25 and loading.  It can be a little bit of a pain sometimes when loading a new cartridge into the chamber.  The little short fat shells make this problem.  It can be touchy a times.  Other then that, it is a fine caliber.
Just another voice in the crowd!!!
