What bullets stick?

Quick Question,  is it brass that expands when it gets hot?

I know that i was shooting once and the bullets kept getting stuck so i switched to a diffrent brand.  Was that brass that was getting stuck?

everything expands when it gets hot, but brass is softer than steel and expands more.  some rifles (like my buddy's sks) have trouble firing brass casings and prefer steel ones.

however, if it's a good quality commercial firearm i'd make sure the bore is nice and clean before i would start investing my time and money into other types of cartridges.  some powders are dirtier than others and can quickly gum up the breach, causing the casing to stick.

also, are you using the older ejector style barrel or the newer extractor?  a lot of guys on this forum have trouble with the ejectors until they polish the breach a bit.

Was it a .223 caliber? Military brass sticks in mine just about every shot ! I no longer use it when reloading.

H&R/NEF advises you NOT use military or NATO 5.56mm ammo of any sort. It is for commercial .223 ammo only....<><....

So a good name-brand (like Winchester, Remington,or Federal) would be ok? 

What brought this up, is that im looking at getting some ammo from this web-page-

there prices seem to not be so high, but there are so many diffrent manufacturer's....i dont know whats good and whats not. 

Ive never had this problem with my shotguns or .22's, there not as "picky"  : D

The ejector is the type that kicks the shell out, right?  thats what i have.

Yes, yours is an ejector. The 45gr Winchester White box sold at Walmart is one of the best shooting .223 factory rounds available, give it a try. Some have said it's hard to find, but it's still available here at Sportsman's Warehouse for $13 a box of 40. It's also available in 55gr FMJ which some have said works ok.

I have two boxes of thoes sitting right next to me 

but they are 45gr.   im lookin for 55 or 60gr.  (hopefully thoes will still be accurate with my barrel)

May I ask why? 45gr to 55gr isn't much. Especially if your a casual plinker or varmint hunter. What exactly are you looking for here in a bullet?
If you want heavier grain bullets then I say get a heavier caliber bullet. In a 223, with a 1-12 twist barrel the 45 -55 gr provides the most potiential for velocity and straighter flight than most beavier bullets. Though they may have better BC's, still it is a 223. I am a believer in pushing the limits with in reason, but also modest and recognize limitations. Perhaps a 243 is in your future if your wanting more performance in these ranges??

o...well in my other post people were saying to try 55 and 60gr. also just to see how they perform and what works best for me.

And i have heard that 55gr. is about the max you can go, while not looseing accuracy with a 1-12 twist..but i figured i would try 60gr. also.

Here in okla 45gr are not legal for deer. In my 223 (not nef) 45gr shoots the best .250 @ 100yds and 55gr shoots .500 to .750 I can only shoot 180yds out of the shop here in town and the 45gr shoots 1" or less and 55gr goes 1" to 1.5" not bad for a sporter barrel. All shots have been on calm days.

I have used a lot of the cheap UMC 55gr FMJ's for plinking in my rifles, and actually they shoot fair in mine -considering how cheap they really are. Though I have heard many have the complete opposite results with them in their 223's. I don't remember having hardly any stuck cases with them, maybe 1 or 2. But the same could be said for my reloads too.
You can also pick these up cheaper at Walmart, for around $4 a box of 20rds
They are brassed cassed and good for reloading.
 I do not think they would be considered Mil.Spec, though I have been wrong before

I have both SP's and HP's only because I bought a bunch on closeout for a great price, I suggest since it's on a coyote and not a deer try the HP's with no fear if you cannot locate the SP's in your area. I have the same problem around here in trying to find some specific ammo, many times the variation I want is not stocked by anyone in the area....<><....

The cases appear to be of thicker brass on the Military Brass 5.56. I believe the Throats of Military rifles are supposed to be just a little different too. I will say though that I have only ever had one gun that was measurably different. And that was a handi rifle. It also would not shoot anything over 50 grains with any accuracy either.

I think i have came to a conclusion that i will have to just buy a few boxes of diffrent ammo and try them out.  (like alot of people have said already)

What i dont get is, if i buy lets say 3 or 4 diffrent brands and maybe two brands are 50gr. and the other two are 55gr.  how do i know whats best?  Eather way i wil have to adjust my scope for the diffrent brands, and it would prob. take me atleast two boxes of each to get use to how far they can go and still be accurate.
and around $20.00 for a box of 20 bullets..this wont be cheap 

Is this what most people have to do though?  Or do most people not get this complicated and confused like me and just buy one type and make it work?

There is a review that someone posted up that said they do 1/2" group at 100yard with a bull barrel on his .223 handi rifle.

Shoot them all to see which ammo shoots the smallest groups, then adjust the scope to the point of impact you desire with the best shooting ammo. A good zero range for the .223 is dead on at 150yds since that's the range you can shoot at.

Tippy, go to the post above this one in the centerfire section, "Accuracy from Handi's, am I expecting too much" and read it though, also look at the top post on page 2 of that thread, that is why I suggested trying the Remington ammo, the end flap of the box is also displayed as is the model/descriptive # of the 55 grain loads which shoot so well out of my older 1:12 twist Handi .223...Good Luck, and Quicks suggestion is very valid, can't go wrong there, try them all and choose the one's that shoot best.
