7X57 into retirement and 30-40 Craig
« on: November 26, 2006, 07:40:57 AM »
I shot a nice 8 point buck yesterday afternoon with the 7X57. It will go into the gun safe beside the 7X64 that I killed a buck with last year. Both are now offically retired. I put Cinnimon Lamitate stock sets on both and they really look good. I will now pull out the 30-40 Kraig barrel that I bought from mt3030 (Wally) to hunt with. If I snag another whittail with it, it will be retired also.....

PS: I still have several that have not seen any blood...

PSS: The 30-40 Craig downed a nice six point today. It has been mounted of a newer model reciever with a camo laminate set. It is also retired.

If you ever want to let go of the 7x57...let me know...seems a shame to make it a safe queen...

It will probably never be for sale. I think I have every caliber that NEF/H&R has offered except the 38-55, plus three rechambers. I am trying to make a kill with each one. If I keep hunting with one, I will never get them all covered. The 22 Hornet, 223, 22-250, 243, 25-05, 270, 7X57, 7X64, 30-30, 308, and 30-06 are now taken care of. I still have several to go...

The .30-40 Krag is a great cartridge.  I may have my .30-30 Handi rechambered to .30-40 Krag if I ever find a .30-30 Winchester I like and can afford.
