Savage Model 23A Sporter 22 LR

Hi folks...I have a Savage 22 bolt action that was give to me by my uncle.  It's a Savage 23A Sporter, Serial ## 1061**.  If any body could furnish me with a date of manufacture, that would be great!  Thanks in advance....   DL

Thank you for your response.  It is in fantastic condition, spending its last 45 years in a gun cabinet.  Any idea what its 99% condiition value might be???  Again, thanks much....    DL

I have a Savage 23-B SN#83,XXX and the best I can tell it was made around 1926 to 1928.  The 23-A, 23-B, and 23-C were made at the same time with no regard to the number used between them, just whatever the next one-up number was.  So, with all that have being said, I think your 23-A was made between 1927 and 1929.  I've read it here before but, it bears repeating "With Savage, you never know".
