All mar knives.. any good.
« on: November 21, 2006, 12:34:52 PM »
Saw one the other day and it is consumsing my every thought! I am an ametuer collector and like the looks and quality of this knife. It is a large tactical fixed blade. Brightly polished blade with no blemishies. I beleive the handle is micranta or pheolic resin. I have found the knife listed for as high as $ 387.. this one is 200 bucks. Has anyone eber owned one and was it easy to sell etc.

they are some of the best knives you can buy at any price !

Al Mar passed away but he was the main knife designer for Gerber after Blackie Collins I beleive...If it's an older one made before he passed away it s really worth alot...his wife ran the Co. for awhile and recently sold it.

His kinves usually hold their value or increase with time (and usage and condition)...one of the best ways to maitain the value of a  collector knife  is to send it to the maker  to have it sharpened...

One of his most well known current models is the "Shiva" although I personally love the Roadrunner...but $200 for a new, Al mar fixed sound like a good deal.  I had a Falcon folder and the shape of the blade is a work of art.
