BRNO ZKW 465
« on: November 13, 2006, 06:33:12 AM »
BRNO ZKW 465 22 hornet.

What would one of these be worth in VG condition ? The one I'm looking at comes with a strangley mounted German Scope which looks kind of ugly and is way to high. Does anyone know if there are any modern bases available for this receiver, preferably extended ones for the receiver seems very short.

I would probably convert to K-hornet. The other option is to buy a new rifle for just a little more money. Probably a Browning micro-hunter.

I just bought one at a gun show in 98%+ for $1100 with an extra clip. A little on the high side but he wouldn't come down any more. Book value at 100& is 1200. Leupold, millet, burris and others besides CZ all have rings that will fit. These are really nice little 22, quality made, don't alter them.

Here's the rifle I'm considering. It's on a reputable dealer's website, rated as 'very good'.$650 cdn
I don't like the looks of that front scope mount. Is that some kind of permanent addition, typical modification for European scope mts?

There is also a minty looking Brmo 'Fox' available. Both hornets.

The Brno Foxes usually sell for quite a bit less. Book value $445@100%-$380@98% and around $500 at gun shows. The picture looks suspicious on my computer and I think you called it correctly, I'd pass on it.

eroyd, unless I miss my guess, that Hornet that you are (were?) considering is at Williams in Port Perry, Ontario.  If that is the case, I can take a close look at it if you have any specific questions, as they are my local shop and I'm there so much that I practically receive mail there.

Williams is a totally trustworthy dealership that will not in any way mislead you or misrepresent their wares.  I was looking at that gun a few weeks ago myself, and passed only because I have one already in similar condition.  The scope mount appeared to be a correct factory job, but I don't recall all of the details.  The reticle in that scope is a European style (duh!), not sure of the correct name for it.  It had IIRC three extremely thick crosshairs with no upper vertical one.  The scope is what turned me off about the rig.  It seemed too coarse of an aiming point to be well suited to use with a varmint caliber like the Hornet.

I'm pretty sure that the gun was still there a couple of days ago.  Let me know if I can help you out.
