Where to buy Tikka
« on: November 13, 2006, 02:50:55 AM »
Hey all,

I'm looking to purchase a new Tikka in 6.5 x 55 and I don't see them on the shelves.  How and where do I go so I know I don't get hosed?  Some dealers in my area are convinced that if it ain't Ameericann, it should be really expensive.

I'm in west central Wisconsin, Eau Claire, to be precise, but not above driving a bit.
Thanks in advance,
Just my Awf Hand comments...

I would look online.  www.ozarkguns.com is a trusted dealer.  If you want to buy from a local dealer, just see if they can special order it for you.

Look at Able Ammo:

I've bought several guns from them. Fast delivery and I've never had a problem with them.

Go to your local gun shops and see which ones has a Tikka distributor and order one. It is extremely expensive for gun shops to stock every gun out there, that is why they use distributors and can get the guns within 1 or 2 day's if there distributors have them.

Good gun shops deal with more than one distributor.

The 6.5x55 is currently being manufactured in the T3 Hunter but not in some other T3 models. I checked a few websites to see what they were asking for a new Hunter and added shipping charges which brought the total to over $600. Then I visited a local gun shop and found a Hunter in 6.5 for $575. They may have built some in the Lite model at one time and if so, they would cost less. The Tikka website shows suggested retail for the Hunter is about $100 more than the price of the Lite.

Awf Hand,

Have you checked Gander, and Scheels?  A friend just bought a used T-3, in .25-06 Rem,
with a Nikon Buckmaster SF scope, for $650, lightly used.  This was from the E.C. Gander.
I checked it out for him, and the gun was 99%, with a good crown, and bore.  From the
inspection, I would say less than 100 rounds went down the bore.  They also were
running a sale, with the blued/synthetic T-3s priced at $499, as I recall.  If they have a
6.5x55 in their system, they usually will get it transfered to the E.C. store.

Dont waste a second of your time shopping gander Mountain for a new Tikka.

Go to Moe's hardware hank in Black river falls. They will sell you the same gun far cheaper.

Moes: 1-888-276-6466 ask for sporting goods.

Well worth the drive

::) Funny joke.  I've got one out by me, that's exactly what it is.  Their gun selection is awful.. Ever since they bought out Galyans here.  They don't even sell handguns, and they have about two dozen rifles.  Forget about em.  You'll find the gun, and a much better deal, online.  Check out GunBroker or OzarkGuns if you haven't yet.

I just bought a T3 lite SS in .270 at our local Dick's sporting goods.  The cheapest gun shop (almost always) in our area had them for $549 but is nearly an hour away.  Dick's is five miles from my house and had it for $569 . . . I dropped the extra 20 bills to save on gas and time.

I picked mine up at a local small dealer used.  There is one for sale here in the classifieds in .243, if I recall correctly.
