2006 season
« on: November 08, 2006, 05:18:25 PM »
Been looking for a big buck...spent day and a 1/2 with nephew he shot his first with my old white great hunt.... spent 3 days in the snow and my trailer with a friend worked very well almost all single track in area and large but never able to be there at the right time...shifted over 5 miles or so and much more activity but still no connection...different area with nephew again and I filled my doe tag and good buck activity...different area and bucks that were ripping up the ground and trees would have liked to have seen him most aggressive sign I have seen ,grunted in a doe or button buck....back to area where I taged the  doe and back to grunting had one come down wind where I had no lane was careful to check area before I left and sure enough spotted another one coming in he came to a scrape across from me and took the shot poor choice as some small brush, he did not go far and had a second shot ready and only shot was the neck and he was down for good.....going back out and see if nephew can fill his other tag...been a pleasure teaching nephew some stuff and enjoying God's outdoors from grouse to martens.

McD,

Very nice buck, as usual! :) I sure envy you guys from the great white nort. You keep up the good work with your nephew, it is a very important link to our future as hunters. Thanks for the pic and story. Our General Firearms season starts next week on the 15th and the Muzzleloader season starts the first week of December.
