harris bi-pod on a ruger super red hawk 454?
« on: November 07, 2006, 04:08:24 PM »
What is the best way to put a harris bi-pod on a ruger super red hawk 454? I looked at the barrel mount adapter that harris offers but I don't know if it will fit or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I mounted a bi-pod on one of my rifles which worked fine.  I had an opportunity to use a shooting stick which I found more useful than the bi-pod.  The shooting stick I purchased is a telescope model that I can use in the sitting, kneeling and standing positions.  I was ready to purchase one of the expensive models for $40 but found the $9 version at Walmart that works great (now I need to figure how to spend the $31 i saved  ::) ).  I will use the shooting stick for rifles and pistols ...

I would not consider mounting a bi-pod on the barrel of a revolver. The harmonics will affect your accuracy. You are better off getting a shooting stick and resting the frame of the gun on it.  A lot more useful also.  ;D

I picked up a telescoping bipod from Cabelas that works pretty good with my contender. It doesn't attach to the pistol, I used it like a walking stick then when ready for a shot I spread the legs and rest the pistol in the cradle at the top. I worked great for boar hunt I was on last month.
