Like father, Like Son

At the beginning of youth gun season, my wife decided that our 7 year old boy needed his own hat.  So she had one made.  It has the words "Trophy Spike" over a spike buck.  The boy had take nthe Oklahoma hunting course and suprised us by passing it the first time, :o.  So during youth gun season we took him out to shoot a doe.  Unfortunately the only deer he saw that he was able to put the sights on was an 8-point buck.  Talk about an angry child >:(.  We dragged him all over the fields so my wife and I could get our black powder season.  So after getting our deer, we decided it would not hurt to let the boy take a gun to see what his reaction would be to sight a deer and try to pull the trigger. :o.  Well, I set him up and deer are all around us.  They stomp and snort, and the boy just laughs, so much for shooting that one....... :D..  So a little one decided to walk up upon us, and kept coming closer and closer, and even closer before the little thing noticed a pop up tent.  HMMMMM..... the boy pulls the gun up, with my help of course, someone had to hold the stick under the gun so he didn't have to hold up the whole weight of the barrel.  Deer steps up and looks at us.  Darn thing is behind a tree at 15 steps away.  Finally the deer decides to back off around another tree and starts to walk off.  Hmmm... I gave a little whistle and the deer whips around broadside and BOOOOM goes the gun....... The boy shot the gun ???.  Wow the deer drops, :o :o.  I count steps from the stand to the deer and I counted 28 steps.  We go from the wife taking shots from over 100 yards to the boy waiting til they are breathing down your neck to shoot them.  We are so thrilled to have the boy start the hunting after all the years of dragging up and down hills, over brush pile after brush pile, sitting on logs and sticks, watching other people have all the fun.  Now he knows what buck seizures are very well............. ;D   Will get pic's ASAP....JB
