Which shotgun for CAS

Am committed to go cowboy shooting in the spring.  So far have acquired a pair of single-sixes--SS .32's with birdshead grips, a Rossi Puma SS in .45 Colt, and now need the scatter gun.  Every double I pick up turns me off.  Obviously, they need a lot of work to be real competive.  Was looking at a Norinco 1887 at a local shop.  Feels like I could pretty much use it right off the shelf.  Hate to make a mistake on my last major purchase.  Could use some advice.
 
P.S. I'm sixty-seven and am only going to compete with old bucks like myself.

Mayor of...;  Did you look into the classes available?  Perhaps you will choose a class that doesn't put you up against the speed demons.  Is your interest historical?   Perhaps you might wish to choose a persona, and then select a battery to match your character.  Me?  I went from "modern" ,as all I had was a Blackhawk, then went with the cap'nballs, and now I'm using '51 Navy Richard Mason .38 conversions, an 1866 carbine and a hammer double.  It doesn't matter so much what you own, learn to use your armament effectively.  Believe me, you can come pretty close to the bulk of shooters with a side-by-Side.  Learn to shuck the empties out with a backward jerk or you will be there pickin' shells all day.

My persona is that of a "remittance man" of the 1870's.  I shoot  blackpowder in one of the smaller classes, but get a lot of satisfaction from it.

sounds like yu got things rollin sounds like me this past summer,  when i started,  if yu have the time  before spring hits id look around an get a real win 97,  i never owned the china made one  but i have seen them an talked to  owns who say they arent winchestersi started with a  stevens 311 double  i like it but as they say they are more work , and take a while to get use too ,  sort of a trial and error  with any,  i  think yu will like the 32 cal  for handguns for sure,  guess yu will find out as i did no matter what yu do its goin to be fun,

I have used a Norinco double for 5 years now with no problems. They make good guns. You may want to look at Coyote Cap's website. ;D

I am having a similar dilemma trying to figure out what shotgun to get. Need to get one for the wife AND I and that is part of the problem. She prefers a pump and I prefer a double. We are also looking at the 1887 lever. It is interesting, but would take quite a learning curve. Yes, I have been to CoyoteCap's site. Been trying to get a hold of him all day, but they are out of the office through Tuesday it seems. Needing to get another 45 revolver and gear also means the cost is a concern. $600 to me is a lot to spend on a shotgun, especially starting out. I can get a Stoeger for $300.
