Handi Rifle 45/70 Question
« on: October 26, 2006, 12:53:16 PM »
Greeting to All
I am new to this forum and to Handi Rifles.
I have acquired a Handi Rifle in 45/70. It was used but looked brand new. No wear on the blueing, scratches, dings etc. Shoots great but after 2 boxes of ammo, I have noticed some play in the barrel. When the action is closed, I can squeeze the chamber area and the action and feel movement, not alot but it does move. Is this OK, or do I have a problem? My only other experience with this type of action is an old Brazilian single shot shotgun.

Thanks for you help.

Welcome to GBO! The action should be tight when it's closed, see the barrel fitting info in the FAQ and Help sticky, that should give you an idea on how to check latch engagement. You may have to send it in to H&R for repair unless you want to fix it yourself.
